The first rehearsal for the band will be August 12 from 7:15 until 9:15 with a welcome-back reception at 6:30. If you know of anyone who may be interested in playing with the band, please invite them to this reception and rehearsal. Most of the rehearsal will be spent reading new music.
All of the following concerts have been confirmed for fall and for Christmas. Lilburn Daze is the second Saturday of October, the 12th. At this concert the band will play some of the pieces that we worked up for the spring concerts along with some of the new pieces that we will hand out in August. The Christmas concerts will take place on the first three Mondays in December: Annandale village on December 5th, Clairmont Oaks retirement home on December 9th, and Delmar Gardens retirement home on December 16th.
Lilburn Daze is an arts and crafts festival organized and run by the Lilburn Women’s Club that draws thousands of visitors each year. Each year the band is the first performing group of the day.
Annandale Village is located in Suwanee and offers residential and non-residential programs and services to adults with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries. The atmosphere at last year’s concert can only be described as electric. We received a wonderful reception at this concert. The band collects donations to buy small gifts that Santa delivers during the concert.
Clairmont Oaks in Decatur and Delmar Gardens in Gwinnett County are retirement homes where the band performs in the spring and at Christmas time. Residents really enjoy and appreciate the quality and the selection of music that the band brings at these times. Again, Santa shows up at these concerts giving candy canes to all.
Our contacts at these facilities tell us that they talk about the concerts for several weeks after the performances.
